Let’s take a moment to recall all that we have covered up to this point:

  • We revisited our reasons for getting into education and remembered our “why”.

  • We recognized that expertise is more than just knowledge, and that students do not get the opportunity to engage in deep learning as much as they should.

  • We previewed a leaner and more responsive unit template that guides us to pare down all of the resources and standards.

  • We analyzed a commercially-produced curriculum resource with a critical eye.

  • We embraced the challenge of teaching for success today and for an unknown tomorrow.

  • We developed criteria for what is worth learning, or is “lifeworthy”.

  • We positioned standards in their more proper place as we develop curriculum.

  • We created a pathway toward student success.

  • We found a better balance between clarity and autonomy in our assessment process.
