Summer Reading Cards

In a recent post, I discussed my school's after school reading intervention. We are using eReaders, Nook Simple Touches to be exact, to help engage reluctant readers. During the spring, students read a large volume of titles on these devices.
Regardless, summer can be a tough time to convince many students to read every day. I took an idea from Allington and McGill-Franzen's book "Summer Reading: Closing the Rich/Poor Reading Achievement Gap" and sent each student a handwritten note. I hope to start receiving messages soon!
