Listening to the conversation between Regie and Matt on my walk this afternoon was so uplifting. The world is hurting. I so appreciate Regie's sentiment regarding feeling broken vs. broken open. The plate analogy that matches the artwork on the cover becomes so much more meaningful to me in knowing the story behind it. Honoring stories, seeing our students and one another in all our humanity...just truly, truly what the world needs now more than ever. I also love that the book crosses genres and is so much more than just a professional development read. Thank you for your bravery in being vulnerable and sharing your stories Regie. Like Mary, I plan to keep this book close in hand and heart.

Hi Ryanne,

Thanks for taking the time to post such thoughtful comments. I'm so pleased the broken plate made beautifully whole again resonated for you. My husband and I have that plate in our living room, on the coffee table, every day. It's more beautiful because of all the cracks and what they signify. I also love that you appreciate that the book crosses genres; as teachers we are so much more than our professional demands and talents. You sound like a heart-centered teacher. Wishing you moments of joy in all aspects of your life.

With admiration and warmest regards, Regie

It is such a blessing to listen to this video discussion and I'm so grateful to you for making it available in such a lovely way and to Regie for sharing her thoughts around this exquisite book. I keep it close to me so that I can return to it often for wisdom inspiration and even solace at a time in education when we need it most. This book is a gift to all of us!

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your kind and generous comments. I appreciate your continuous and uplifting comments on "the work" and the thinking. You, dear Mary, are a gift to educators. No one does more to champion other educators than you do.

With deep affection and admiration, Regie
