I checked out Bewildermentby Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Powers at the public library.
I thought I’d like this family drama/science story. But I am struggling with it for a variety of reasons: the characters feel less than fully developed, a few plot elements don’t seem to fit, and I don’t understand why the author uses italics for some dialogue but not the protagonist’s. I am 1/4 of the way through and I am thinking about what else I’d rather be reading…
When do you know it is time to drop a book and find another one?
Right now! There are so many books to enjoy...every book is not meant for every person.
Good point Shannon - the book might be a great fit for others (also a reason why we need to personalize literacy for kids).
Yep, it's partly a time commitment thing, plus Oprah recommended it! :-)
